Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 21, 2026
Last updated: September 21, 2026

Synchronicity Collective (“Synchronicity Collective,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through synchronicitycollective.org (the “Site”), why we collect it, how we handle it, and the choices you have.

We keep this simple on purpose: this is a small website. The only information you actively give us is what you choose to send through our contact form.

Who we are

Synchronicity Collective is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out our contact form, we collect:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • Any other information you choose to include, such as your organization, phone number, or the content of your message

You don’t have to use the form. You can also reach us directly at julia@synchronicitycollective.org.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our Site collects limited technical information automatically when you visit. Our Site is built and hosted on Squarespace, and Squarespace’s built-in analytics collect:

  • Your IP address (which may indicate your general geographic area)

  • Browser type, device type, and operating system

  • Pages you view, how long you stay, and how you navigate the Site

  • The website or search engine that referred you to us

We use this in aggregate to understand how the Site is being used. We do not use it to identify you personally.

Information we do not collect

We do not sell products, accept donations, or process payments through this Site at this time. If we add online giving in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and describe how donation information is handled. We do not ask for or intentionally collect Social Security numbers, financial account information, health information, precise geolocation, biometric data, or other sensitive categories of personal information. Please don’t include sensitive information in a contact form message.

How we use your information

We use the information described above only to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about it

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Site

  • Protect the Site against spam, fraud, and abuse

  • Comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests

We do not use your contact form submission to add you to a marketing or mailing list. If we ever offer a newsletter, it will be a separate, clearly labeled opt-in.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

Our commitment to donors and supporters

As a nonprofit, we hold information about the people who support our work to a standard at least as protective as everything else in this policy:

  • We never sell, rent, trade, or exchange donor or supporter information with any other organization, for any purpose, including list exchanges with other nonprofits.

  • We do not add people to mailing lists without a clear, separate opt-in, and every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe.

  • If we publish donor recognition — in an annual report, on the Site, or at an event — we will ask first, and you may always choose to give anonymously or decline recognition.

  • If we begin accepting online donations, payment card details will be handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We will not store full payment card numbers ourselves.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with the service providers that make the Site work, and only as needed:

  • Squarespace, Inc. — hosts the Site, stores contact form submissions, and provides analytics. See the Squarespace Privacy Policy.

  • Our email provider — delivers and stores contact form notifications sent to our inbox.

  • Professional advisors — accountants, attorneys, or consultants bound by confidentiality, if genuinely needed.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Synchronicity Collective or others.

If Synchronicity Collective ever merges with another organization, transfers its programs, or dissolves, personal information may transfer to the successor organization along with our other records. We will note any resulting change to this policy here.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Our Site uses the cookies that Squarespace sets by default:

Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function and to keep it secure. These include Crumb (session, prevents cross-site request forgery), _ssid (4 years, fraud prevention), and RecentRedirect (30 minutes, prevents redirect loops).

Analytics cookies — help us understand Site traffic. These include ss_cid and ss_cpvisit (2 years) and ss_cvisit (30 minutes), which distinguish unique visitors and sessions.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not run third-party ad trackers on the Site. We do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across other websites when you use our Site.

Your choices. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working. Squarespace also publishes a full list of the cookies it uses in its cookie documentation.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Our Site does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no common industry standard for them. We do honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by law — though note that we do not sell or share personal information in the first place.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form submissions for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and to maintain a record of our correspondence — generally no longer than 24 months — unless a longer period is required by law or the inquiry becomes an ongoing relationship with its own records. Aggregate analytics data is retained by Squarespace according to its own retention practices.

You can ask us to delete your contact form submission at any time. See “Your rights and choices” below.

How we protect information

Our Site is served over HTTPS, and contact form submissions are stored within Squarespace’s platform, which maintains its own administrative and technical safeguards. We limit access to submissions to the people who need it to respond to you.

No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Please use judgment about what you send us through a web form.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email julia@synchronicitycollective.org and we will delete it.

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you

  • Access a copy of it

  • Correct anything inaccurate

  • Delete it

To make a request, email julia@synchronicitycollective.org with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will respond within 45 days. We may need to ask you for information to verify your identity before acting — usually just confirming you control the email address involved. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, with written permission we can verify.

Which privacy laws apply to us

We want to be straightforward about this. California’s Consumer Privacy Act applies to for-profit businesses that meet certain revenue and data-volume thresholds. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Synchronicity Collective falls outside its scope. Several other states — including Colorado, Oregon, Delaware, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Maryland — do apply their privacy laws to nonprofits, but only above data-processing thresholds far larger than a site of this size.

We are telling you this so you know where you stand, not to avoid anything. We extend the rights described above to every visitor, wherever you live, as a matter of practice rather than obligation.

California residents

We are based in California, and although the state’s consumer privacy law does not reach nonprofits, we honor the same core rights for California residents that we extend to everyone: to know, access, correct, and delete the information we hold about you, without being treated differently for asking.

California’s “Shine the Light” law allows residents to request information about personal information disclosed to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes. We make no such disclosures.

Links to other sites

The Site may link to other organizations’ websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll note them prominently on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
